CEFCU DONATES $12,000 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF A NEW MOBILE COMMAND POST
The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group (CVSSG) received its first major donation from Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union (CEFCU) days after it announced its plans to purchase a new Mobile Command Post. CVSSG is committed to raising $120,000 for the purchase of this large motor home vehicle equipped with the necessary tools and technology that can be deployed on a moment’s notice from the CV Sheriff’s Station. It will be used for large-scale incidents or catastrophes that may require extended time demand (those requiring a number of officers and public-service agencies) in the Crescenta Valley Community.
"Everyone in our community recognizes the importance of public safety, not only during tragic accidents or crimes, but in times of major catastrophes," said Richard Harris, President/CEO of CEFCU. "It’s important for every member of our community, both businesses and residents, to take ownership and be a participant in providing this valuable asset that will directly benefit us all.”
“The spirit of CEFCU has always been one of collaboration, partnering to fulfill a need,” said Linda Taix-Paccone, President of CVSSG. “CEFCU has supported our initiatives for many years. This is just another example of the many ways CEFCU extends its mission into the Crescenta-Canada community.”
Plans include the purchase of a multi-use, multi-purpose unit with the latest technology and equipment. The primary use is for communications - to use aside from a central dispatch - with on-site radio equipment. The Mobile Command Post will serve as a centralized place for agency officials to meet, plan, and oversee activity on scene. The unit will also have additional radio equipment, extra tactical gear, and additional supplies for responders.
The CVSSG is just beginning its fundraising efforts and invites everyone in the community, residents and businesses, to participate with their generous donations and support. “I am grateful to the CVSSG for recognizing this need and for committing to help us meet it,” said Captain Bill Song. “It will be a vital advantage as service requires and as we respond to a broad range of emergency situations. This Mobile Command Post will allow us to better serve our community.” Tax deductible donations can be sent to “CVSSG, P.O. Box 12458, La Crescenta, CA 91224-5458 (Federal Tax ID No. 95-4099206).
